The Unity of Ahlus-Sunnah in their Position Against Ahlul-Bid'ah

In this audio lecture from Sunnah Audio, Our brother, Aboo Ramlah Aadam Lazarus bases this reminder upon a lecture delivered by Shaykh Rabee' Ibn Haadee entitled, "The Correct Position Against the People of Innovation." The speaker first defines who are the people of Sunnah and who are the people of Bid'ah (innovation), then he speaks about some of the Salafee brothers who are negligent in dealing with the people of bid'ah and who are put off when topics of manhaj are discussed. Towards the end, the speaker brings more benefits from the speech of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee, such as the claim that refutation of the people of bid'ah must come from a Scholar only and other doubts.

All praise is due to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds, and may the prayers and salutations be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his companionship.

To proceed:

To the generality of our Muslim brothers who will see this, I say:

Indeed I am acquainted with my brothers from al-Maktabah as-Salafiyyah [Salafi Publications], in Birmingham in the state of Britain, with an acquaintance of long standing, and they are - until now, at the time of writing these lines - upon the best of condition in terms of active zeal in calling people to the correct Islamic religion, and calling the people to the Salafee aqeedah.

Their active zeal in that regard is well-known to me, and they have efforts worthy of thanks, they are to be thanked with regard to their connecting the Muslims around them with the Mashaayikh, the Scholars, and [for] establishing lessons for them with the people of knowledge.

And similarly, [for] their eagerness in this affair, every time they come to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Umrah and visitation, they establish for them [the Muslims] beneficial knowledge-based seminars with the Salafi Mashaayikh until they [the Muslims] return, having benefited [from that].

So may Allaah reward them with good for this action of their's and may He bless their efforts.

And in closing this writing I counsel them with continuation upon this way and [with] striving in calling to Allaah and guiding the people to the truth, and [with] eagerness to increase in beneficial knowledge and righteous action.

And may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon His Servant and Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his companionship.

Await your reckoning with Allaah...

Sheikh Rabee' ibn Haadi al-Madkhali hafidahullah said in his book "Luqman (the wise) Advice to his son"

So the return will be to Allaah and the servants will be told about their affair. All of creation will return to Allaah and they will be questioned, all of the children of Adam, rather Allaah will question all the Jinn and mankind,

‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎We will ask those whom the message has reached and We will ask the Messengers.

Allaah will put out the scales and the actions of the servants will be weighed if good then a good reward and if bad then an evil punishment. Even actions, the weight of a mustard seed, will be brought forward for this precise accountability which Allaah is full aware of from those righteous and evil actions from even the size of a mstard seed of good and bad...

...Allaah's knowledge encompasses everything and the servants do not know anything from His knowledge except that which He wills. Every grain, drop, leaf and everything in creation is not hidden from Him.

Allaah recorded this in this book not because He forgets (High is Allaah from that), rather Allaah knows it before it was written and after it is written. Every second from time nothing is hidden from Him in the heaven and earth. These mountains, deserts, drops, oceans with their waves and drops of water and what they contain of different animals and creation, then Allaah knows its entirety and its parts small and big. Allaah's knowledge encompasses all of it...

...The most minute of things which (according to us) may not weigh anything but Allaah knows its true weight and amount and where it transpired whether in the heavens above, in the depth of the sees or inside a rock.


What will those Backbiters, slanderers, and oppressors say to Allaah on the Day of Judgement having spoken ill of the scholars, not guarding their tongue from backbiting, slandering and oppression? (except the warning of the innovators with knowledge and beautiful preaching which is from enjoining good and forbidding of evil)

I hope you have an answer...Nothing is hidden...May Allaah protect us...

Revival of the Muslim Ummah is by Tasfiyah wat-Tarbiyah (Purification & Cultivation/Education)

What is the appropriate methodology for reviving the Ummah of Islaam?

Purifying the Islamic Aqeedah from that which is alien to it, such as shirk, ta'teel, ta`weel, refusing authentic ahaadeeth, because they are connected to matters of 'aqeedah, and their like.

From Fiqhul-Waaqi', pp. 49-51

Therefore, the key to a return of the glory of Islaam is:

Implementation of beneficial knowledge and establishing righteous and correct actions, and this is a very great affair with the Muslims cannot reach, except through the methodology (manhaj) of tasfiyah (purification and correction) and tarbiyah (education and cultivation). These being two very great obligations. By the first of these (i.e. tasfiyah), the following is intended:

1.. Purifying the Islamic Aqeedah from that which is alien to it, such as shirk, ta'teel, ta`weel, refusing authentic ahaadeeth, because they are connected to matters of 'aqeedah, and their like.

2.. Purifying the Islamic fiqh from erroneous judgements which are contrary to the Qur`aan and the Sunnah, freeing the minds from the fetters of blind-following and the darkness of sectarianism and party spirit.

3. Purifying the books of tafseer, fiqh and raqaa'iq (matters concerning the heart) and other than that from ahadeeth that are weak and fabricated, or the unsupported narrations from the people of the Book, and the reprehensible narrations.

As regards the second obligation (i.e. tarbiyah), then by it I mean: cultivating the young generation upon this Islaam, purified from all that we have mentioned, giving to them a correct Islamic education from the start - without any influence from the disbelieving western education. There is no doubt that bringing these two obligations about requires huge efforts and sincere cooperation between all Muslims, individuals and groups, from all those who are truly concerned with establishing the desired Islamic society, each one working in his own field and specialty."

The Solution to Racism and Prejudice

Racism and Prejudice continues to be a hot topic today, despite efforts to denounce racism throughout the world, it still exists to varying degrees, most of which is very subtle these days. During March of 2005, a workshop was created to discuss racism and prejudice in N. Ireland, an area which has seen great turmoil in the way of paramilitary war and terror, but recently has become steeped in racism as immigration has accelerated with the end of the troubles in N. Ireland. As it was noted on the internet, “It’s perhaps the only city in the western hemisphere were the estate agents actually carry advertisements clearly stating “no blacks, Chinese, Pakistani etc etc”. Belfast has been labelled by the European Union as the most racist city in Europe and by the United Nations as the most racist city in the world. This programme was sponsored by a government funded function to discuss racism and prejudice, and in this case - hear what Islam says about the topic.

Allah, the Majestic mentions:

O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. pious) . Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Al-Hujurat 49:13)


He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Aali Imran 3:6)

Allah, it is He Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape and made your shapes good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allâh, your Lord, then blessed be Allâh, the Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Ghafir 40:64)

He has created the heavens and the earth with truth, and He shaped you and made good your shapes, and to Him is the final Return. (At-Taghabun 64:3)

Why do Muslims Reject Atheism?

Is The Existence of a Creator Something That can be Proven Logically?

Atheism can be described as the belief that no creator exists, and that the universe was not brought about by divine knowledge, will and ability. The following is a short excerpt from Sacred Freedom which follows a process of logical deductions to show that our universe must have been created by an All-Wise and All-Knowing Creator:

“Those who believe in chance concede that it is something which is not by nature ordered. Once this is understood, the following question must be asked: How could something that is by nature disordered consistently create order? This is a scientific impossibility. Hence, it must be concluded that not only has a Creator created our universe, but that He is also continually administrating its awe-inspiring affairs.”


To demonstrate the error of those who deny the existence of a Creator, one may consider the ordinary example of how a book comes into being. The existence of a book necessitates the existence of a publisher who possesses three attributes: Firstly, this publisher must possess the knowledge of the required fields of expertise for the production of this book. Secondly, the publisher must possess the will to carry out such a task by consciously embarking upon this project. Thirdly, the publisher must possess the ability to carry out the task of creating the pages, cover and binding of the book while finishing it with distinction.

Once this is understood, the irrationality of claiming that a book created itself, or that it came about by mere chance, becomes apparent. Is it possible to legitimately claim that a book came about without a publisher, or that this universe came about without a Creator - solely on the basis that this publisher or Creator has not been seen?

In actuality, understanding that a Creator exists is much easier to grasp than understanding that a simple object like a book has an originator, as the formation of our universe is far more sophisticated than the formation of any one particular object. Accordingly, the Creator stated regarding those who deny His existence:

“Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief.”[52:35-36]

These verses prove that just as it would be impossible to claim that a book was created by nothing, it would also be impossible to claim that mankind was created by nothing. Likewise, just as it would be impossible to claim that a book created itself, it would also be impossible to claim that we created ourselves. Only one other possibility exists; that mankind and everything in this universe was brought about by an All-Knowing Creator.

It can be concluded that all things are known to come into existence by designers that possess the three attributes of knowledge, will and ability to create. No other conclusion can be drawn, except that our universe was fashioned by a Creator who possesses the knowledge, will and ability to create such an incredibly awe-inspiring formation.

Indeed, certain pieces of evidence left behind at the scene of a crime are considered incriminating proofs that lead courts to settle cases in an absolute manner. In the same way, Allah's Signs within His creation and the logical evidences contained within His revelation contain even more definite proofs that we were created by an All-Knowing, All-Powerful God.

“And upon the earth are Signs visible to all who have faith with certainty, just as there are Signs within your own selves. Will you not then see?” [51:20,21]

Differences Between the Da'wah of the Salafiyyeen and the Deviant Sects

A lecture mentioning several points of clarity with regards to the da’wah of ahlus-sunnah and the da’wah of those who oppose the sunnah. This beneficial sitting outlines the definitive matters which differentiate ahlus-sunnah and ahlul-bid’ah.

Our noble brother, Aboo ‘Abdullaah Hasan as-Sumaalee introduces the topic by illustrating the way of the Imaams of the salaf with regards to clarifying the belief of ahlus-sunnah vs. ahlul-bid’ah. A crushing blow to the mumayyi’een who claim that refutation is fitnah,

‘The differentiation of ahlul-bid’ah and ahlus-sunnah is something that the ‘ulamaa have done since the very beginning of time. For when you see them, writing books such as usoolus-sunnah of Imaam Ahmad, the intention behind authoring these books is to clarify the ‘aqeedah of ahlus-sunnah wal-jama’aah. For example, from the usoolud-deen, from tawheedul-ulohiyyah, tawheedul-asmaa’ was-sifaat. And likewise, ash-sharee’ah of Imaam al-Aajurree, again, a similar book with similar structure. And the second reason these books were authored was to clarify the difference between ahlus-sunnah and ahlul-bid’ah. If you were to go and read usoolul-i’tiqaad of Imaam al-Laalikee'ee, you would see the belief of the khawaarij mentioned alongside the belief of ahlus-sunnah in regards to the one who commits a major sin… Likewise you will see mentioned, the methodology of the murji’ah that were mistaken with regards to the belief of eemaan. And if you were to go to sharhus-sunnah of Imaam al-Barbahaaree, you would see that he mentions the Khawaarij and from their signs is that they rebel against the rulers, and from the belief of ahlus-sunnah is that we obey the rulers over us…” (Transcription from the audio lecture)

The Signs of ahlus-sunnah in opposition to ahlul-bid’ah:
  1. We implement the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in every matter
  2. We take and implement that which is found upon the sahaabah (radiyallaahu 'anhum)
  3. We busy ourselves with Tawheed
  4. We do not sit with or listen to ahlul-bid’ah
  5. We desire to join the Jama’aatul-Muslimeen (upon the sunnah).
  6. We bring to life the sunan of Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
  7. We do not stick blindly to any speech other than the speech of Allaah and Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
  8. Enjoining the good and forbidding the evil
  9. We use hikmah in our da’wah
  10. We give importance to knowledge built upon the Qur’aan and the sunnah and the athaar of the salaf and acting upon this
  11. tasfiyah wat-tarbiyah (Purification and Education)

Aa'ishah: The 'Aallimah, The Daa'iyah

A lecture from the seminar in Philadelphia/New Jersey (2002). One of the du’aat from England, Aboo Hakeem Bilaal Davis delivers a lecture rich in ahaadeeth and fruitful narrations concerning the ‘Aallimah (Scholar) and Daa’iyah (Caller to Islaam); Ummul-Mu'mineen, ‘Aa’ishah (radiyallaahu 'anhaa). A fine example for the Muslim woman who wishes to emulate the Sunnah. Aboo Hakeem demonstrates the actualisation of the Sunnah at the hands of 'The Mother of the Believers’. The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “Verily rifq (gentleness) does not exist in something, except that it beautifies it. And it is not taken out of something, except that it harms it.” [1]

And this weakness of imaan carries with it all types of diseases and all types of other illnesses from "Kaswatul Qalb"- the hardness of the heart, "Wa suhuratul wuqufil Ma'aasi" - and the easiness of falling into sin and laziness when it comes to doing or establishing obediences and worships directed towards Allaah. Supporting a Masjid: A Communal Obligation

An excerpt from the a khutbah by Abul-'Abbaas Moosaa Richardson encouraging the Muslims to be vigilant in supporting their local masjid, being active in helping, using one's wealth and supporting the spread of Islaam. He also cautions the listeners against speaking out against the leadership of the masaajid, their financial affairs and questioning the worthiness of their positions. The evil and fitnah of these actions and how the Shaytaan intensifies in his efforts to separate the people as the community grows in size. The speaker cautions the listeners to record the statements of those who whisper doubts in to the community, to hold them accountable, to verify their claims and to admonish them for their rumour-mongering. An important reminder for every community - to busy ourselves with good and to leave of useless banter and ill-speech.

Start Your Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle

All praise is due to Allaah and may prayers and salutations be upon the Messenger. To proceed:

Following sound faith (eemaan) and pure monotheism (tawheed), one of the greatest assets that a Muslim can have is good health. Good health facilitates the fulfilment of the religious and worldly obligations. It empowers a Muslim to do good deeds for his or her own benefit and for the benefit of the society at large. Ibn al-Qayyim says under a chapter heading, "His (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam's) Guidance Concerning Health"

"Since health is one of the most precious favours Allaah has given to His servants, the most generous of His gifts, and most plentiful of His bounties, nay more, absolute health is the most precious of all favours, without exception - it is fitting that whoever is granted a portion of this good fortune, to cherish, preserve and to guard it against harm. Bukhari has related in his Saheeh form the hadeeth of Ibn Abaas: The Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "There are two favours about which many people are not aware: health (sihhah) and faraagh (free time, leisure)" ... (Zaad al-Ma'aad 4/196).

Ibn Al Juwziee said:

Whoever does not read the stories of the Salaf and the path that they tread, he can never tread that path. It is befitting for a person to know and understand that the nature of an individual (character) is a thief. If a person leaves his nature with the people of his time, his nature will steal from theirs and he will become similar to them. But if he reads into the lives of the Salaf his nature will join theirs and he will learn from their character....(Telblees Iblees)

The following are just a few examples from the past and present day scholars informing of their love of knowledge and their preference of it over relaxation.


It was reported by Ibn al Qayyim in his book: "Rawdatul Muhibeen", I was informed by my Sheikh (Ibn Taymiyyah), he said: When I became sick the doctor said to me: Verily your research and Islamic lecturing increases your illness. I (Ibn Taymiyyah) replied: I can not stop, and I will debate you in your knowledge! If a person becomes happy and joyful doesn't this strengthen their soul or spirit, and as a result wards off illness? The doctor responded: Of course. So I (Ibn Taymiyyah) said: Verily my spirit is pleased with knowledge and it strengthens my nature and due to that I find relaxation. The doctor responded: This is something our knowledge doesn't apply to.


It was reported by Sheikh Muhammed bin Hadee to some of his visitors that he was told a story by Ahmed Al Hakimy, the brother of Sheikh Hafith Al Hakimy:

One year while Sheikh Hafith Al Hakimy was on Hajj or during Ramadan in Mecca, he was looking for the book titled: "Creation of The Servant's Action" by Imam Al Bukhari. While in Mecca he was informed that someone had arrived from India with a copy of the book and that he had given it to the library there in The Haram. Sheikh Hafith visited the library and requested to borrow the book under the condition that he would not leave the Haram and that he would return the book the following day after the rising of the sun. He took the book and requested for someone to bring him paper and a pen. He sat and made his own copy of the book. Then he continued to memorize the book until Fajr. After Fajr he rested for a short period of time and then woke up. Upon waking, he returned the original book to the library and said: Here is your original, and here is an extra copy (the copy he himself wrote) and the book is in my head (memorized).

May Allah grant Sheikh Hafith Al Hakimy ease in his grave and raise him with the righteous ameen.

It was also mentioned by Sheikh Ahmed An Najmee the following:

We (as young boys) were instructed by our teacher Sheikh Abdullah Al Qara'wee to memorize the Quran in preparation for the month of Ramadan. We would memorize during the day, and toward the end of the day we gathered to test one another in memorization. I (Ahmed An Najmee) memorized a hizb for that day. Surprisingly, Hafith Al Hakimy memorized a full Juz! We continued for a full month, and everyday Hafith would memorize a full Juz completing the entire Quran in one month!


It was reported by Sheikh Abdul Kareem Al Kudair:

I was informed by one of the widows of Sheikh Abdul Azeez bin Baz that one day he returned home from the hospital, and upon entering the house she noticed that he was very tired and exhausted. After falling to sleep, she changed his alarm clock from the normal set time for night prayer, to a later time. The Sheikh woke at his normal time without the clock and inquired why the clock did not work. His wife informed that she had changed the time in order for him to relax. He admonished her and said: Relaxation is in Paradise!

Humility of the Scholars is a Sign of their Knolwedge

This is a nice reminder put up by brother Abdulrahman Omaysan concerning Shekh Abdulmuhsin al-'Abbad regarding the sheikh being upset about a Kuwaiti publishing house that printed one of his books with 'Allaamah infront of his name and he told the brothers to go through all the copies and use correction fluid to take out 'Allaamah before the book is distributed and he only accepted that he be called sheikh in age since the Arabs call a person sheikh when they have reached the age of 70.

Many others from the scholars such as Sheikh Bin Baz rahimahullaah, Muhammad Nasr Deen al-Albaani rahimahullaah in the famous tapes "This is our Da'wah" cried when he was over praised and said "O Allaah do not hold us to account for what they say of us and make better than what they say of us and forgive us what they don't know of us" repeating the words of Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq radiallaahu 'anhu.

Sheikh ibn 'Uthaimeen rahimahullaah who was praised in a poem in a sitting and the sheikh ordered that the wording be changed infront of the people.

Sheikh Rabee' ibn Haadi likewise in the lecture "Reasons for Deviation" said the same and in many of his lessons correcting the one introducing him as saying "i am only a student of knowledge."

Likewise, Sheikh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree on many occasions after being paised in a lesson said "I ask Allaah, you and the angels to bear witness that i am not happy with this praise rather i am a student of knowledge only."

And their example the Prophet salllaahu 'alaihi wa sallam who would lie on a mat and the marks of it would be on his saide and his saying to Umar ibn Khattab radiallaahu 'anhu:

"wouldn't you like that the comfort be for us in the hereafter and for the disbelievers in this world."

indeed "whoever humbles themselves to Allaah, Allaah raises them."

Allaah said "Lower your wings to the believers"

The Ruling on Showing the Wounds of the Muslims in Palestine and Other Places

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful, the Giver of Mercy All Praise is due to Allaah

Some presentations are established to show the wounds of the Muslims in Palestine and other places, and they contain pictures of the wounded and those killed, and sometimes they are presented by means of video, and the reason for that is to encourage the Muslims to give charitable donations to their brothers. So is this act permissible?

This act is not appropriate. It is not permissible to establish pictures for the injured. However, the Muslims should be called to give charity to their brothers, and they should be informed that their brothers are in bad circumstances, and that bad things are happening to them from the doings of the Jews, without them being shown pictures and pictures of the wounded people. This is because this contains the matter of utilizing picture making, and it also contains undertaking a burden that Allaah, the Most High, did not command. It also contains weakening the strength of the Muslims, because when you present before the people pictures of Muslims that have been mutilated, or with their body parts cut off, then this is what frightens the Muslims and makes the Muslims afraid of the deeds of the enemies. And what is obligatory is that the Muslims do not show weakness, and that they do not show the calamities, and they do not show these matters. Rather, they should conceal those matters so that they do not weaken the strength of the Muslims.

The Virtue of 2 Rak'ahs Optional Prayer

From ‘Silsilatul-Ahaadeethis-Saheehah’(no.1388) of Shaikh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah):

“ Ibn Saa`id reported in his additions to ‘az-Zuhd’ [of Ibn al-Mubaarak] (159/1), from ‘al-Kawaakib, 575, no.31: Indian edn.):

‘Muhammad ibn Yazeed, Aboo Hishaam ar-Rifaa`ee, narrated to us: Hafs ibn Ghiyaath narrated to us: from Aboo Maalik, and he is Sa`d ibn Taariq al-Ashja`ee: from Aboo Haazim: from Aboo Hurairah who said:

“Allaah’s Messenger ( salallahu ahlayhi wassalam) passed by a grave in which a person had been newly buried, and he said:

(Two light rak`ahs, which you would regard as being something slight, and which you pray as something extra; if he- and he pointed to his grave- were able to add them to his deeds it would be more beloved to him than (having) everything in your world.)’’

*Shaikh al-Albaanee said:

“Ibn Saa`id said: ‘It is a hadeeth with a singular chain which is hasan.’

I say: Its narrators are reliable, all of them are narrators of Muslim, except that this narrator ar-Rifaa`ee has been spoken against by some of them. al-Haafiz said: ‘He is not said:

I saw them being united upon his being weak.’

I say: However he is not alone in reporting it, since Aboo Nu`aym reported it in ‘Akhbaar Asbahaan’ (2/225), and likewise at-Tabaraanee in ‘al-Awsat’ (no.907), through two other chains of narration from Hafs ibn Ghiyaath that he narrated it to us.

I say: And this is a chain of narration saheeh to the standard of Muslim, so the hadeeth is Saheeh through this chain, and all praise is for Allaah. And al-Mundhiree said in ‘at-Targheeb’ (1/146): ‘at-Tabaraanee reported it with a hasan chain’, and al-Haythamee said: ‘Its narrators are reliable’ .”

What did the Prophet Do? An Evaluation of the "Islamic Basis" on Female-Led Prayer

A response to Nevin Reda's article: What Would the Prophet Do? about Muslim women leading prayers - Researched and Prepared by Ali Yahya

Imam Maalik elucidated this principle in his famous dictum: "Anyone who introduces an innovation into Islam, and believes that it is good, has claimed that Muhammad betrayed the Message. For Allaah says, “This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favor upon you, and chosen for you Islam as your religion.” [Sooratul-Maa’idah, 5:3] So whatever was not from the religion on that day can never be from the religion today." Anyone, therefore, who attempts to introduce foreign ideas or practices into the religion – under the guise of "progressiveness," "American Islam," or otherwise – is implying either that Allaah's revelation was insufficient or that the Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) did not convey His message….
On March 18, 2005, for perhaps the first time in the history of Islam, a woman delivered a khutbah and led a mixed congregation in Jumu'ah prayers. Although this action was clearly at variance with Islamic teachings and the consensus of the Muslim Ummah, attempts have been made to legitimize it. The most notable of these is a piece by Nevin Reda, available on the Internet.

Sadly, Nevin Reda's arguments have convinced a number of Muslims of the admissibility, or even desirability, of such prayers. This essay is a response to those arguments.

About Holding on to the Sunnah...

That which seperates the people of truth and the people of falsehood is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam).

Al Haakim said: I heard ar-Rabee' [saying]: I heard ash-Shaafi'ee, and indeed he was narrating a hadeeth. So a man said to him: Will you implement this o Abaa Abdullaah? So he said: If I narrate an authentic hadeeth from the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam) and I don't implement it, then you can testify that my intellect has left! [Reported by Ibn Abee Haatim in Aadaabush Shaafi'ee Wa Munaaqibuhu (p. 93), and by Imaam adh-Dhahabee in Mukhtasir Al Uloow' (no. 197) It's chain of narration is authentic. It was authenticated by Shaykh al-Albaanee in Sifatus Salaah (fifth edition) (p. 33)]

A man came to Imaam Maalik Ibn Anas (radiyallaahu 'anhu) and said: From where should I put on the ihraam? So he said: From the place where the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam) stopped and put on ihraam. So the man said: So what if I put on ihraam from farther than that? So Maalik said: I do not advise that. So he said: What do you dislike about that? He said: I dislike the Fitnah upon you. He said: And what is the Fitnah in increasing the good?! So he said: Verily Allaah the Exalted says, "So let those who oppose his (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) command beware that a Fitnah may strike them, or a painful punishment." And which Fitnah is greater than you specifying an action with virtue which was not specified by the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam)? Love of Allah

Ibn Qayyim said that there are ten things that bring about the love of Allah:

1) Recitation of the Qur'an with the reflection and with understanding of its meanings.

2) Seeking closeness to Allah by performing voluntary deeds after having performed obligatory ones, for that leads one to the highest levels of love.

3) Remembering Allah during every situation - with one's time, heart and deeds... one's share of that love is to the degree of one's share in that remembrance.

4) Preferring what He loves to what you love when your desires are strong.

5) Allowing your heart to reflect on His Names and Attributes.

6) Reflecting on His many favors and blessings, both the apparent ones and hidden ones, for that leads to His love.

7) Having your heart softened as it is worshiping Allah.

8) Being alone with Him in worship when He descends during the last third of the night. And this means to invoke Him, to recite His Speech, to stand with all sincerity and with good manners and with good submission, and then to end that with repentance and with seeking His forgiveness.

9) Sitting with those who are truthful in their love of Allah.

10) Staying away from all that creates barriers between the heart and Allah

Before you is an explanation of a statement of the noble Prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, in which the Prophet mentions some mighty principles of the Islamic religion. The hadeeth (prophetic statement) begins with a sermon that caused the Companions of the Prophet to weep and their hearts to tremble. They thought that Allaahs Messenger was about to leave them, so they sought his advice and counsel. He informed them that he has left them upon clear proof, that is so apparent that its night is like its day! That no one strays from this clarity except that he will be destroyed!

The Messenger of Allaah, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, further explains that over time differing and controversy will occur between the Muslims. He mentions to them the cure to this differing and separation, that is: Stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after me. He continued: Hold on to that with your molar teeth. The Messenger, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, warned the Muslims from innovating in matters of worship in this hadeeth: Be warned of the newly invented matters for verily every newly invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is misguidance, and to obey the Muslim rulers: I advise you with the fear of Allaah and to hear and obey (your leaders) even if an Abyssinian slave were to rule over you. The hadeeth is beautifully explained by the Scholar and former teacher at the Islamic University of Madinah, Shaikh Ubayd Al-Jaabiree and it has compiled and presented to you in this book.

Shaikh al-Albaanee on Suicide Bombings

This is the statement of the prominent scholar of Hadeeth, Muhammad Naasir ud-Deen al-Albaanee with regard to the suicide attacks carried out in the name of Islaam in contemporary times.

...Now we come to suicide attacks this is what we know from the Japanese and their likes (Kamikaze pilots) when a man would attack an America warship with his plane and he would blow up along with his plane but he would have struck the army that was in the American warship.

We say: Suicide attacks now, in the present time, all of them are not legislated (in the Sharee'ah), and all of them are unlawful, and they may be from those types (of suicide) on account of which its perpetrator will remain in the Fire forever. As for suicide attacks being a (form of) nearness by which a person comes closer to Allaah, then today a person fights in the path of his land, in the path of his nation . These suicide attacks are absolutely not Islamic.

This statement was compiled along with others in the book "Al-Fataawaa al-Muhimma Fee Tabseer il-Ummah" (Important Legal Verdict For The Education, Illumination of the Ummah, p.76). It is one of many condemnations from leading orthodox Muslim scholars regarding suicide bombings that take the lives of innocent civilians.


Human Rights in Islam - Shaykh ‘Abdul-’Azeez aalush-Shaykh

Human Rights in Islam - The Grand Muftee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Shaykh ‘Abdul-’Azeez Ibn ‘Abdullaah aalush-Shaykh - expounds upon human rights as guaranteed to mankind by Allaah in Islaam. So the prescribed laws (Sharī’ah) of Allāh have come to purify the servant (i.e. the human being) and they have come for his success in his worldly life and in his Hereafter. So what are the acts of worship, except a refinement for the soul, purification for it and an education for it upon correct manners and higher ideals?”

Islam has Emancipated Mankind from the Worst Form of Slavery:

“So the greatest blessing from Allāh upon him is that Islām has liberated man from the slavery, the disgrace and the degradation of Shirk.”

On Equality in Islam:

“O people! Indeed, your Lord is one and your father (i.e. Ādam) is one. A non-Arab is no better than an Arab, nor is an Arab any better than a non-Arab. And there is no excellence for a black person over a white one, nor is there any excellence for a white person over a black one, except due to taqwā (righteousness). The Religion of Islām has preserved human rights in truth; it has preserved them in all aspects of life.”

The Right to Life in Islam:

“And from Islām’s concern for mankind is that it has made aggression unlawful upon him. So Islām affirms his right to life and it affirms that life is a right for him. No one is allowed to take a life, except for the One who granted it (i.e. Allāh), and He is capable of all things.”

On Women’s Rights in Islam:

“It has liberated her from those who seek to oppress her, whether they do it by depriving her of her rights, or by trying to deprive her of her Religion and sense of honour. Islām has safeguarded her honour and protected her nobility. So Islām respects the woman as a mother, a wife, a daughter and a sister.”

On Rights of the Family:

“So it gave the parents their rights, and the wife her rights and the husband his rights and to the children their rights. And in Islām the neighbours have rights. And Islām has concern for the neighbours, concern for the relatives and the close companions.”

True Human Rights are in Islam:

“The rights are not a favour granted by human beings. Rather, they are from the favour of Allāh. There are rights within Islām that mankind in general deserves, rights with regards to politics, economics, education and societal rights. These rights have been affirmed by Islām and they do not change, because they have been issued by the Sharī’ah of Islām.”

“And if the Muslims were to ponder carefully upon the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Prophet, they would surely see that the truth and justice is within these two – always and forever.”

Small Numbers of Followers

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said,
“No Prophet from amongst the Prophets will have as many followers as me. Indeed, there will be from amongst the Prophets he who had no one believing in him, except one man.” [1]

Imaam Muhammad Naasirud-Deen al-Albaanee (d.1420H) commented upon this hadeeth, saying, “In this hadeeth is a clear proof that the abundance of followers, or lack thereof is not the measuring standard that indicates whether the caller is upon truth or falsehood. So even though the da’wah of these Prophets – ’alayhimus-salaatu was-salaam – was one and their Religion was one, their varied with regards to the numbers of their followers. Some of them had many and some of them had a few, to the extent that some had no one to believe in them except one man. Rather, there was from amongst them he who had not a single follower!

So in this is a profound lesson for the callers and those who are being called in this age of ours. So it is obligatory upon the caller to remember this reality. He must remain for a long time in the path of calling to Allaah the Exalted, and he must not pay any attention to the scarcity of those who answer him, because there is nothing upon him, except to convey the message clearly. And he has the best example in the previous Prophets who did not have anyone with them other than one or two men!

So the one being called upon must not despair due to the scarcity of those who answer the caller, and he must not take that as a reason for doubting in the da’wah of truth and thus abandon eemaan (faith) in it, let alone that he would take that as an indication of the falsity of the da’wah with the argument that no one is following this caller, or that only a few are following him. And if his da’wah were truthful, the majority of the people would not follow him! Allaah the Mighty and Majestic said,

And most of mankind will not believe, even if you desire it eagerly.” [Soorah Yoosuf 12:103].” [2]

Certainly, within every science it is important for a person to learn its fundamentals, so they may generously serve in understanding the science and extracting the principles of what the science has to offer based on those fundamentals. This way, a person's knowledge will be built upon a strong foundation and firmly established roots. It is said that whoever is prevented from learning the fundamentals, he is prevented from arriving (at what benefits the science has to offer.)

One of the most important sciences of knowledge, rather the most important and noble of all sciences is the knowledge of Tafseer, which is the explanation of the meanings of Allaah's speech. The people of knowledge have established fundamentals for it, just as they have with the science of Hadeeth or Fiqh.

The Way of the Salaf Is the Best Methodology and the Moderate Path

Allaah says,

And the first to embrace Islâm of the Muhâjirûn (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansâr (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhâjirûn) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allâh is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success. (At-Tawbah 9:100)

Imaam al-Awzaa’ee (d.157H) (May Allah have mercy upon him) said,

“Adhere to the narrations from those who have preceded, even if the people reject you, and beware of the opinions of men, even if they beautify it with their speech. So indeed the affair will become clear (for others), while you are upon a straight path regarding it.”

Related by al-Bayhaqee in al-Madkhal (no. 233) with an authentic chain of narrators

He also said,

“So make yourself patient upon the Sunnah, and stop where the people stopped, and say that they said, and refrain from what they refrained from. Travel upon the path of your righteous Salaf, for verily sufficient for you is what was sufficient for them.”

What is a Salafi and What is Salafism?

The reader will notice that the word "Wahhabi" is always indented with quotation marks here at Those who are labelled with this word do not themselves use this term, as it is used as a means of belittlement. The reasons for the rejection of this term are clearly outlined throughout this book. The correct way of referring to them is by terming them Salafis, as they are those who adhere to the way of the Salaf - the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) and his companions.

Following the way of the Salaf is the way which has been legislated in the Quran and Sunnah, the very sources of Islam. The Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) said to his daughter Fatimah: "Indeed, I am for you a blessed Salaf."

When asked about which was the correct and acceptable way of understanding Islam, the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) replied by saying: "That which I and my companions are upon."

Similarly, Allah says in the Quran that He is pleased with the companions
"and also those who follow them exactly (in faith)."

As such, He said regarding the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him security) and his companions:

"So if they believe as you (i.e. the Salaf) believe, they are indeed rightly guided."

All of the orthodox scholars of Islam followed the way of the Salaf in understanding religion. Early scholars such as Imam al-Awzaa'ee, who died 157 years after the Prophet's emigration to Medina, said: "Be patient upon the Sunnah, and stop where the people (i.e. the Salaf) stopped, and say what they said, and refrain from what they refrained from, and follow the path of your righteous Salaf; for verily, sufficient for you is what was sufficient for them."

Today, one of the famous Sunni schools of jurisprudence is named after a scholar named Abu Haneefah. Millions of Muslims all over the world ascribe themselves to his school of jurisprudence; those who the media would term "mainstream" Muslims. Regarding adherence to the Salafi methodology, he said, "Adhere to the narrations and way of the Salaf, and beware of newly invented matters (in religion), for all of it is innovation."

The orthodox scholars who came after these early generations also followed the understanding of the Salaf in religious matters. Imam ath-Thahabi said: "It is authentically related from ad-Daraqutni (a scholar from approximately 1,000 years ago) that he said: There is nothing more despised by me than 'ilmul-kalaam (innovated speech and rhetoric). I (adh-Thahabee) say: The man never entered into ’ilmul-kalaam, nor did he enter into argumentation (i.e. philosophy), he did not delve into that. Rather, he was Salafee (a follower of the Salaf)."

The present day scholars who stick to the mainstream understanding of Islam also ascribe themselves to the way of the Salaf. Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan is considered to be one of the most knowledgeable of scholars alive today. Regarding Salafism, he made the following remark: "It is not a party from amongst the various parties… Hence Salafism is a group of people who are upon the way of the Salaf, upon what the Messenger (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) and his Companions were upon; and it is not a party from amongst the contemporary groups present today."

The media claim that Salafis/"Wahhabis" believe that all those who do not follow their form of Islam are heathens" is a tall tale. Salafis believe that those Muslims who do not follow the understanding of the Salaf are not adhering to these and other clear texts. As such, they do not fall under the above-mentioned Quranic verse as being "rightly guided." Salafis distinguish between those who fall into religious innovation and those who fall into disbelief.

When considering the proofs which are contained within the Quran and Sunnah and the statements of all the orthodox scholars of Islam from the earliest generations to the present time, it becomes obvious that it is a great blunder for the media to refer to Salafism as being a new movement called "Wahhabism" which came about only two centuries ago during the time of Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhab in Saudi Arabia.

An Explanation of The Four Rules Regarding Shirk
This book consists of several scholarly explanations of the classical work on Tawheed and Shirk. “The Four Rules”, which was written by the Imaam and Mujaddid of the 13th century, Muhammad bin ‘Abdil-Wahhaab, may Allaah have mercy on him.

It is called “The Four Rules” because it consists of four fundamental basics which one can use to distinguish a believer from a disbeliever and a polytheist from a monotheist. This treatise is considered one of the Imaam’s more significant works. Even though it may be more concise than some of his other works, it is just as comprehensive in terms of the information covered and points of benefit discussed.

Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan said: “If you come to learn and understand these rules, it will become easier for you to afterward understand the Tawheed that Allaah sent His Messenger with and revealed His books upon, and it will become easier for you to understand the Shirk that Allaah warned against and whose danger and harm in this life and the Hereafter He spoke about.”

In an effort to bring the most benefit to the English reader, translations of eight separate explanations of this monumental work have been included in this present publication. It is hoped that the inclusion of all these explanations will provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of this book and the subjects it covers.

Suicide Bombers: Followers of Shaytan

JEDDAH – Sheikh Dr. Saleh Bin Fowzan Al-Fowzan, member of the Board of Senior Ulema and the Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Verdicts (Ifta) has described those who claim to be engaging in jihad for the sake of Allah by killing themselves as "committing suicide" and "Mujahideen for the sake of Satan."

Al-Fowzan said: "Those who have fallen into this Fitnah (trial or temptation) have not asked the religious scholars (Ulema), nor have they gained religious knowledge from them. Instead they isolated themselves from other Muslims and turned to people considered human tyrants who brainwashed them, and so they deviated from the right path followed by the majority. They consider other Muslims to be infidels, in what is known as "Takfir". They kill them, blow up buildings and other facilities. They kill the young and old, male and female, and Muslim and Al-Mu’ahid, Al-Dhimmi and Al-Musta’man, due to this deviant belief. These are the consequences for whoever inclines towards evildoers."

Al-Fowzan quoted the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the seditions and trials (Fitan) of the late eras. "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that there would be callers at the gates of Hellfire and whoever obeyed them would be thrown into Hellfire."

Sheikh Al-Fowzan said that this was reality now. "Everybody rejoices at their misfortune and hates them for their deeds, even non-Muslims, let alone Muslims," Sheikh Fowzan continued: "Nobody is satisfied with their deeds except those who are like them. This is a great trial (Fitnah) and a Muslim should be alert and contemplate it. He should not be hasty, and should ask religious scholars and pray to Allah for guidance."

"He should not trust people without knowing their real intentions and make sure they are upright, even though they may appear to be upright, righteous and showing zeal and concern for Islam. On the other hand, whoever seems to be following the right path and is doing good deeds but is an unknown person, we must neither be hasty in our judgment about him nor should we trust him unless we know the truth about him, and know his true conduct and past.

"Without foresight and without consulting the learned, deviant groups fell into the abyss due to hasty judgments on people, ignorance, mixing with evil people, trusting them and distancing themselves from Muslims and their Ulema. They have dropped out of schools and stayed away from the Ulema and their families and homes. Muslim youth should learn lessons from what has happened to these people.
